Project Overview

The CSI III Project is Mission Uganda's family strengthening initiative titled "Cost effective Sustainable and Innovative Responses for children and young people". The project focuses on working with schools and households/community on areas of child protection, education and environmental protection respectively.

This social protection program directly contributes to strengthening the socio-economic empowerment of vulnerable families and schools with services using a targeted service approach. The overall focus ensures durable and holistic family empowerment while putting them in a reasonable position to better look after their environment.

The project works with 100 households in Omoro district covering two parishes of Minja & Gem with engagement of 10 villages, while also extending coverage to Pader and Agago districts.

Youth Empowerment

  • Establishment of functional youth council structures in Lalogi sub county
  • Lalogi Subcounty committed to provide youth office for coordination
  • 13 youth enrolled and completed vocational skilling in tailoring, mechanics, building & concrete practices
  • Youth councilors supported to implement action plans with stakeholder linkages

Environmental Protection

  • 7,045 tree seedlings supported to both schools (6,085) and households (960)
  • School clubs supported to implement action plans and establish club gardens
  • Community-led intervention approach enhanced ownership of environmental activities

Education & Protection

  • Head teachers spearheading dialogues on improvement of quality education
  • Community structures empowered and using referral pathways for case management
  • Enhanced engagement of different actors in education quality improvement

2022

Project Launch & Assessment

Community assessments conducted across Omoro, Pader, and Agago districts. Health facility mapping completed and partnerships established with Ericks Development Partner. Baseline studies initiated for child survival interventions.

2023

Implementation Phase

Health worker training programs launched, immunization campaigns implemented, and nutrition interventions scaled up. Community health volunteers deployed and maternal health services strengthened across target districts.

2024

Project Completion

Final evaluation conducted showing significant improvements in child survival rates. Health systems strengthened, community ownership achieved, and sustainability plans implemented. Impact documentation completed for Ericks Development Partner.
